History

The Newark Artist Collaboration (NAC) elevates the work of Newark’s local artists and art organizations, recognizing the critical role they play in enhancing the vibrancy and cultural capital of the city.

Audible launched NAC in June 2021, undergoing a competitive call for proposals with a jury of local arts professionals and community stakeholders from the City of Newark, the Newark Museum of Art, Newark Symphony Hall and other organizations. Audible announced the artists selected for the first phase of NAC in October 2021, and in May 2022, unveiled the works of 20 Newark artists and artist collectives at Audible’s headquarters and the surrounding downtown neighborhood. Subsequent phases were unveiled in 2022 with Raise Your Voice, in 2023 with She made up her mind to get free, and in 2024 with a 500-foot mural titled Dreaming. Installations range from murals, window activations, digital artworks, light installations, parklets and an outdoor children's reading area.
